Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.
1 Peter 3:8
The apostle Peter is the right person to speak like this. He was on record as a hot head and one who would spout off. This interesting servant of the Lord learned what unity of mind, sympathy, brother love, a tender heart and a humble mind truly stands for. These characteristics are the fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit does not come from anything but the faith, which imparts to us what we have in Christ. This is true, as much as the lack of the fruit of the Spirit also tells us something about the functionality of our faith. It is a good thing that we all are called by the office bearers to come to church to worship, for it centers on the preaching of the Word, by which faith is fortified.
