“Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been borne by me from before your birth, carried from the womb;4 even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made,
and I will bear; I will carry and will save. Isaiah 46: 3-4

In the course of this chapter the Lord God discusses the weakness and futility of the idols and the power of His salvation for His people. We would do well to think of the idols of our day in the beginning of the 21st century, when we embrace the words of this chapter. It is a comparison of futility with what lasts; of idols with our God. When reading the chapter the conclusion is what matters most. And that is: I will put salvation in Zion, for Israel my glory.” We see that still happening, as we come to church to hear salvation proclaimed in the midst of God’s people.
