… for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
2 Timothy 1:7

The apostle seems to encourage all of us reminding us of the spirit of power, love and self-control. However, Timothy is addressed, who may have become discouraged in the face of Paul’s and his own trials. The apostle encourages Timothy, who received the good deposit, what that truly means. The Spirit enables the preacher to do His work well in all circumstances. This applies also today, as we celebrate that the LORD has granted newly elected office-bearers. May these brothers also be encouraged knowing that they also receive the spirit of power, love and self-control. We may look back on a successful time-frugal congregational meeting. Let us rejoice that our good God provides in every way for the good progress of the gospel.
