“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age.” Titus 2:11-12
The words indicate what Christmas really means for us. Christ’s coming in the world leads to training against ungodliness and worldly passions. Christ’s coming identifies two problems: being without God, as well as being involved in worldly passions. The two require self-control and godliness. Noteworthy is that these two are not identical or interchangeable, but both need training. In this age, we can succeed in both because it has been Christmas.
