“Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in his holy place?” Psalm 24: 3

The call to worship is accompanied by the question of
self-examination. The one does not happen without the
other. To pass the self-examination, as attached to the
call to worship, the impossible is required. Who has
clean hands? Who has a pure heart? Who does not lift up
his soul to what is false? Who does not swear falsely?
If it were up to us, we would not be qualified to come
and worship. And yet the LORD God calls us, for He
calls us in Christ. Christ did ascend the hill of the
LORD, to die there for our sins. And so He stands in the
holy place, in the heavenly sanctuary. And in it we have
the anchor of our faith. (Hebrews 6). What a privilege,
what a blessing to be called to come and worship.
