“Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” Luke 1: 28 The Heidelberg Catechism explains the need for the Saviour’s birth and work, when it speaks about “being again received in God’s favour” (Q+A 12). In Gabriel’s greeting, God reveals to us, that He in Jesus Christ will favour His people. To be with God, because God came to be with us, is truly a favourable thing.
